HOW A LESSON WORKS

Know what to listen for.
Know what to change.

A few words, a short recording, and something specific to work on.

01

Hear the difference

Listen to words side by side. Visual guides show where to put your tongue and how to shape the sound.

02

Give it a try

Record a few everyday phrases using the sound you’re practising. Replay the example whenever you need it.

03

Find your next step

Read the feedback on your pronunciation. Try the phrase again, then return to tricky sounds in your reviews.

TRY IT FOR YOURSELF

Ship or
sheep?

Listen to both words. For ‘sheep’, your tongue sits higher and farther forward. Try moving between the two positions as you say them.

GOOD TO KNOW

Questions?

Who is Vocal Edge for?

For adults who already speak English and want to improve their pronunciation. You’ll work on individual sounds, word stress and everyday speech, at your own pace.

Do I have to change my accent?

You decide how much you want to change. The lessons use American English as a reference and focus on helping you be understood more easily and feel more comfortable speaking.

What happens in a lesson?

You’ll listen to examples and record a few short phrases. The app gives you pronunciation feedback for your next attempt. Some lessons also include visual guides to mouth and tongue position.

How much time do I need?

About five minutes per lesson. The course has 30 lessons across six topics, with review for the parts that need more practice. You can repeat a lesson or spend longer on it.

Is this a full English course?

Vocal Edge focuses on pronunciation and speaking. Use it alongside any grammar, vocabulary, reading or writing practice you’re already doing.

When can I get the app?

We’re preparing the iPhone app for release. You can try a sound guide here now; we’ll add the App Store link when it’s available.
